Mies Outland is a 3rd generation business that was started by Mike Mies in 1947. Mike opened the John Deere agricultural store in downtown Watkins. In 1956 Mike was joined by his son Tony. Tony worked in the business until 1997. During his 41 years at Mies Outland he saw the start of the John Deere lawn and garden in 1963, the addition of the Polaris line in 1965.The John Deere agricultural line progress from the model 60 2 cylinder tractor to the 7820 tractor. In 1987 Tony's son Steve joined the business and in 1992 another son Jeff joined him. Today Steve and Jeff Mies continue the "Commitment to Excellence" that has become the trademark of Mies Outland over the past 55 plus years.
